The Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), a major German broadcasting company, based in Cologne uses the Teracue encoders and decoders to integrate live panoramic videos during its own broadcasts.
Through the use of a special camcorder housed in a weatherproof structure for protection purposes, the WDR is now able to film Cologne and its Cathedral and the images can be directly put onto its programs.
The Teracue solution has been chosen because of its low latency times and the soundness of its equipments. A foolproof architecture and robust products are required to enable a 24 hour operating load for panoramic filming exposed to the inclemency of the weather.
The original idea of the project came from the WDR who has an ongoing need for ingesting live images of the panorama within the studio background. The contribution of ipTV and the centralized system of ingestion have contributed towards enabling the ARD-Morgenmagazin to utilize the images needed and such streaming can also be used by other programs and live productions.
Interact is Teracue's Value Added Partner whose products can be obtained on the Streamcast site.
